The Heavy Buzz of Summer: A Poem

Bike ride on the mountainside

Overgrown garden bed

Friendly neighbours, happy strangers

Two handfuls of new friends

Chipped pearl nailpolish

Freckles on my cheeks

Whenever I make wishes

Good things happen to me

The buzz of summer

Downpouring hot rain

Oh what a blessing

That my life has changed

Cracked green leather

Stacks of books to read

A heart full of hope

And Dirt covering my feet

It’s the heavy buzz of summer, didn’t you hear?

So Be with this moment, for now you are here

The foxes and butterflies and crawfish and I

Have discovered many a truth under a blazing pink sky
